... come back when it's not auction week.
The weather's been bone dry for months, so when does it decide to pour? Right now at the start of Arizona's biggest outdoor collector-car week of the year. Yeah, sure, this is desert, but still. Usually, I'd be cheering the rain, just not this week.
Luckily, Scottsdale has mitigated most of the mud mess that once made Barrett-Jackson vulnerable to wet weather. The last time it got rained on a couple years ago, it really wasn't that bad. And there have been significant improvements since then.
There's more paving and just about everything is under tents. Notably, the gigantic main auction tent easily accommodates the massive crowds that come to watch the six days of auctioneering.
Though it's definitely nicer when we get to show off our usually beautifully sunny winter weather in Phoenix and Scottsdale, the rain should not be a huge problem for this wildly popular collector-car feast.
Best advice: bring an umbrella.
And for those of you sitting it out at home, tune in to SPEED for a full 39 hours of auction coverage.
