Here is my Indycar Livery Watch, where I'll cover the good, the bad, and the ugly of what we have seen so far for the upcoming IndyCar season.
**All pics are on the IndyCar Website**
AJ Foyt Ent. : Same basic look as last year, asn it's nice to see Vitor back behind the wheel, hopefully driver and car are in the news for better reasons this year. Red, White, and Blue are colors that are hard to mess up.
Andretti Autosport: Before I get into each car, I think the chrome nose are the cars is pointless, and takes away from the livery. Onto the individual cars... Danica: I hate this look. I hate it in the Nascar Cup and Busch Series, and I hate it here too. Black looks good with everything.. except that green. Hopefully someone else steps up, so we get a decent car to look at. Tony: Same look as last year which has been a good look. hopefully he has better look this year. Marco: I have yet to see a really good look of Marco's car, but I'm not really a fan of what I've seen. RHR: I like the Red, White, and Black of this car, hopefully AndAutSpt finds more sponsorship, so he can run the full season.
Conquest Racing: A basic White car, with Orange highlights on the front and rear wings, and mirrors. A little too basic, and yet I still like it.
Dale Coyne: I like what I've seen of the Boy Scout car, but that could be the Eagle Scout in me..
Dreyer and Reinbold: Looks like the same Dad's Root Beer livery for Conway. Not my favorite, but could be worse. Justin Wilson brought Z-line with him, and the car still looks good. Hopefully he'll have a good season. I can't wait to see what Beatriz will be driving..
FAZZT: Overall I've liked what I've seen. The White and Black complete each other well, and the Orange parts add enough of a difference, without overpowering the rest of the look.
HVM: Orange and Black tends to be a nice look, but the Orange calls too much attention to the Dallara hump, and there is too much black in the back, but the nose and front wings look good.
KVRT: The 5 and the 8 share the same basic look this year, and it's the look that KVRT has had for a while know, overall it is a good look, as all the colors look good together. I also like the JPS Throwback that Rossiter has been driving in testing. it will be nice to see that back on track.
NHLR: It's a shame to see a mostly blank NHLR car, but the blue lines are a nice touch, and the Red and the Blue work really well together.
Panther: The National Guard car has a bit of a new look this year, most noteably the nose and the airbox, where the nose has blue sides, and a white top, and the airbox has moved from red to blue, still a nice look, and an upgrade, in my opinion. Just a note, that pics (not real good ones) are on the Panther site.
Sarah Fisher Racing: Still rocking the Dollar General colors, which are great colors, and the car looks good. Hopefully she has a good year this year.
TCGR: Same basic look as last year, with the expection of Dario having T-Mobile on his rear wing. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Team Penske: Well, it's over. Phillip Morris is no longer on board with the Captian, so the Marlboro chevrons are gone. The only car with sponsorship is Power, with Verizon, but all the cars look the same (with the minor differences of wings and mirros) and with the exception of a Marlboro Red/Orange stripe, the cars look quite like throwbacks to the days of Father and Son Andretti teaming up @ Newman/Haas. Although Penske has started to look for sponsorship for the 2011 season, I can't see someone not stepping up for the 500. hopefully the cars don't change to much. Penske and classic liveries go together like America and Apple Pie.

I slacked off a bit more than I would have liked, and will get a Nascar update out sometime soon (hopefully) but I want to at least tackle F1 and the IRL (in 2 seperate posts)
I'll be starting with F1, and going in order of launches, starting with Mercedes, and finishing with Lotus. Here we go...
**Just a note: All pics I have viewed are on the F1 Website!**
Mercedes GP: I like the overall color scheme of the livery, as it is really distinct and will stand out on the F1 grid. I really like the Dark Gray and Light Blue highlights throughout the car, especally on the wheels. It's a nice touch that beat the heck out of the (thankfully banned) wheel covers.
Ferrari: I like the white added to the car, as we enter the "Alonso Era" at the Scuderia. I like seeing changes like that (although they could have done a better job on the drivers suits)
McLaren: Overall, the livery itself isn't too bad, it has worked for McLaren in the recent past, so there really hasn't been a reason to change the overall look. The Sharkfin takes too much away from the car for me to really like it, unfortunately.
BMW Sauber: Better than an all white(or black) car, but just a little too basic for me. Hopefully they find a sponsor so the cars can get to looking better.
Renault: While the new livery is no where near as good as the Yellow and Light Blue of the Mild Seven years, it is a step up from the ING years. Though I am not a big fan of the vertical Barcode/Prison stripes on the back, I think they could have come up with something bigger.
Toro Rosso: Overall I like this livery, I like the Gold and Red on the Nose, but I'm not really a fan of the Red Bull Cola can on the rear wing, I think it could look good with a Red or Gold rear wing (to tie in with the Nose) but the Cola can is better than the Renault's stripes.
Williams: Not sure if this is the Officail Livery, as Williams has a history of running a testing livery and a racing livery, but I like the simpleness of the livery. If it is just a testing livery, I can't wait to see the real one, as Williams liveries always tend to be good.
Virgin Racing: I like the livery, as it tends to highlight all the right places on the car, and it seems that even the complicated parts of the livery are in the right place. The only question I have is why could Brawn have looked a little closer to this last year?
Force India: If anything a bit too simple in the Livery, but I do like the the car being white, green and orange, since the team is Force India.
Red Bull: I like the Blue, White, and Gray lines on the car, but in all honesty that's about it. I get that the team is owned by Red Bull, but I'd like a bit of creativity in the Livery.
Lotus: In all honesty, this is my favorite livery on the F1 grid. A classic livery looking Very good on a modern car. Unless your name is Penske, that tends to happen too often these days.

I have been a fan of the Uni Watch Blog (found here : sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page... And here: www.uniwatchblog.com/) But it seems like the Auto Racing Liveries are always over looked, so I figured I'd start my own thread here, and cover the new looks of the cars in the coming year. I'll start with the Cup cars (All pics are found on the Jayski Livery Page www.jayski.com/schemes/2010cup.htm I'm not going to post pics here, otherwise the post will be huge) #00- Tums- Overall not a bad livery, there isn't really any empty space on the car, Not one of my favorites, but it could be worse. #5- Go Daddy- A bit too simple for my liking, and as of right now, a lot of empty space on the car.
Carquest- I'm a little mixed about this one, one the plus side, they have taking the yellow off the car, making it red, white, and blue, but I think overall the look is a step backward from last year's. #9- Budweiser- typical simple red car. Could have done more, a lot of empty space on this car too. Bud/Team USA- Another car with a lot of empty space, and it almost looks un-sponsored. One of the Liveries I hate. #14- Burker King- Not a bad looking car. The Basic livery takes up a good amount of the car, and doesn't leave a whole lot of empty space, which is a plus. Office Depot- Again, not a lot of empty space, and a nice combo of red and black, this one is probably my favorite of all of the 14's Liveries. Old Spice- Not too bad, I think they could of gone with a bit more of the silver/gray that they use, and cut down on the red a bit. #16- 3M/Post-it - This is another livery that I'm not really a big fan of, the middle of the car is overcrowded, and really busy, and the front is pretty plain. It looks like the Toyota F1 car, a COT and an American flag had a 3-some, and this livery was born. Hopefully any other sponsors this car gets will make it look better. #17- Crown Royal- I like the Purple/Black/Gold combo, but I would like to see more of the Black/Gold. The Sides look good, but the front is just a little too plain. #18- Interstate Batteries- I've never been a fan of the Lightning IB livery, it's always seemed to plain to me. (Plus with lightning in general, there really isn't a "just right" you either overload it, or it looks too plain) M&M's- Same basic M&M's look from years past. It's not broken, so no one is trying to fix it, which is a plus. Pedigree- A little too plain, and the black diamond plate/yellow just really doesn't flow. Snickers- Not really a big fan of the diamond plate/flame combo, and it doesn't really work with Snickers as the sponsor, I expect to see American Chopper or OCC on the hood instead, hopefully it gets a redesign before the season (hopefully by the 2011 season) Doublemint- Less of the Diamond Plate, less of the Flames, overall it's not a bad livery, and probably the 2nd best one, behind the M&M's livery. #19- Stanley- Not as cluttered as it has been in years pasts, but probably a little too much done. A lot of empty space, which takes away a bit. #24- Dupont- No change from last year. The flames look better than the rainbow ever did.. Nat'l Guard- Again, No change. #39- Tornados- I like how it's a completely different livery from the Army one, but I'm not really a big fan of it, the top is black which works, but the bottom is colored, and the colors are just too busy, I think this would have worked better with a lot more color, and less black. Army- Same basic Army livery from this year. I liked the flat black, since Army vehicle are painted in flat colors, and the digital Camo has always looked good on race cars, IMO. #43- Best Buy- A cleaner look for the Best Buy Car. Not as plain as last year's, it's a step in the right direction. #48- Lowe's- I like this livery, the gray/silver is now white, and it's a nice classic, clean look. Kobalt- Same livery. I'm not really a fan of it, just too clunky. #49- Larry the Cable Guy- Not really a smart move, for a sport trying to break away from the redneck stereotype, to have a car plastered with the likeness of a guy who makes millions off of that very stereotype.. This livery is the worst yet, IMO #56- Napa- I like the changes that were made, as I wasn't really a fan of the 55's look. That being said, the stopped short, and there is too much empty space on this car. #88- Amp/Nat'l Guard- A nice change in the livery for next season, which is nice to see. Has the Classic/Clean look that the #48 has, and still has the Black rear-end "throwback" to the Corvette's of Corvette Racing, which I have always liked. 99-Aflac- Silver- The sides of the car look good, the front and top are just a little too empty for me to really like it. Nationwide- 12- Verizon- Same look as this year, looks like the Primary will be white this year. This is a nice Penske Livery, not a whole lot going on, and there doesn't need to be anything else added to it, still not my favorite N-wide car, so far. 16- Conway Freight- I like the blue flames, but I'm not a fan of the black/gray background, it just seems random to me. 18- Combos- A weird look to the diamond plate on this one, and the orange-ish color isn't that appealing. This livery needs an Overhaul. 22- Discount Tire- Nice clean looking car, a classic Penske look, and my Favorite Livery of all the ones I've seen so far. Just like the 12 car, there isn't a lot going on in the livery, but anything more is too much. 60- Copart- All the colors work well together, and like the Penske liveries, this is another car with just enough going on.
Indycar-
www.indycar.com/news/?story_id=15496 Danica's new Livery.. Go Daddy as the Primary Sponsor- I'm not really a big fan of it, the green actually seems to clash with the black. The endplate of the rear wing is clunky, and just doesn't work at all. The car does stand out though, which is what she'll need with where she'll be finishing.
That is all the cars so far, stay tuned for more Liveries from the Cup and Nationwide series' as well as the Trucks, F1, and Indycar as they come out. Also, once we see all the liveries I'll post my top 5, and put up a poll to get the consensus top 5.
