Here is my Indycar Livery Watch, where I'll cover the good, the bad, and the ugly of what we have seen so far for the upcoming IndyCar season.
**All pics are on the IndyCar Website**
AJ Foyt Ent. : Same basic look as last year, asn it's nice to see Vitor back behind the wheel, hopefully driver and car are in the news for better reasons this year. Red, White, and Blue are colors that are hard to mess up.
Andretti Autosport: Before I get into each car, I think the chrome nose are the cars is pointless, and takes away from the livery. Onto the individual cars... Danica: I hate this look. I hate it in the Nascar Cup and Busch Series, and I hate it here too. Black looks good with everything.. except that green. Hopefully someone else steps up, so we get a decent car to look at. Tony: Same look as last year which has been a good look. hopefully he has better look this year. Marco: I have yet to see a really good look of Marco's car, but I'm not really a fan of what I've seen. RHR: I like the Red, White, and Black of this car, hopefully AndAutSpt finds more sponsorship, so he can run the full season.
Conquest Racing: A basic White car, with Orange highlights on the front and rear wings, and mirrors. A little too basic, and yet I still like it.
Dale Coyne: I like what I've seen of the Boy Scout car, but that could be the Eagle Scout in me..
Dreyer and Reinbold: Looks like the same Dad's Root Beer livery for Conway. Not my favorite, but could be worse. Justin Wilson brought Z-line with him, and the car still looks good. Hopefully he'll have a good season. I can't wait to see what Beatriz will be driving..
FAZZT: Overall I've liked what I've seen. The White and Black complete each other well, and the Orange parts add enough of a difference, without overpowering the rest of the look.
HVM: Orange and Black tends to be a nice look, but the Orange calls too much attention to the Dallara hump, and there is too much black in the back, but the nose and front wings look good.
KVRT: The 5 and the 8 share the same basic look this year, and it's the look that KVRT has had for a while know, overall it is a good look, as all the colors look good together. I also like the JPS Throwback that Rossiter has been driving in testing. it will be nice to see that back on track.
NHLR: It's a shame to see a mostly blank NHLR car, but the blue lines are a nice touch, and the Red and the Blue work really well together.
Panther: The National Guard car has a bit of a new look this year, most noteably the nose and the airbox, where the nose has blue sides, and a white top, and the airbox has moved from red to blue, still a nice look, and an upgrade, in my opinion. Just a note, that pics (not real good ones) are on the Panther site.
Sarah Fisher Racing: Still rocking the Dollar General colors, which are great colors, and the car looks good. Hopefully she has a good year this year.
TCGR: Same basic look as last year, with the expection of Dario having T-Mobile on his rear wing. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Team Penske: Well, it's over. Phillip Morris is no longer on board with the Captian, so the Marlboro chevrons are gone. The only car with sponsorship is Power, with Verizon, but all the cars look the same (with the minor differences of wings and mirros) and with the exception of a Marlboro Red/Orange stripe, the cars look quite like throwbacks to the days of Father and Son Andretti teaming up @ Newman/Haas. Although Penske has started to look for sponsorship for the 2011 season, I can't see someone not stepping up for the 500. hopefully the cars don't change to much. Penske and classic liveries go together like America and Apple Pie.
