About This Group

Starting as a one-day race in 1983, the PVGP has blossomed into a 10-day festival of car shows, races and special events. With over 200,000 spectators, it is the nation's largest vintage sports car race and the only one run on city streets!

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to hold a world-class vintage automotive event for charity. It is the region's premier summer event for hundreds of thousands of automotive enthusiasts in that it combines charitable fundraising with car shows and vintage sports car racing on city streets.

The 2010 Race Week runs from July 16th through the 25th culminating with our 28th annual vintage races and car shows at Schenley Park on the weekend of July 24/25. Since 1983 this volunteer-driven event has raised over 2.5 million for the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School.

Welcome to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix group at SpeedTV!

We’ve been racing since 1983 past victorian parks,  architecture and museums ON CITY STREETS that feature some of the very best white knuckle off-camber turns brushing stone walls in s-bends downhill.  It’s as opulent a venue as the racercars on the track screeching through the turns.

If you’ve ever wondered what racing was like when your grandparents watched it then this is the event for you!  No traction control. No computer chips.  It’s all about intestinal fortitude.  When you hear driver’s say "I drove in the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix" it’s with the same verve as someone who climbed Everest: "I did it!". You know you’ve seen something special.

It’s great to hear first time visitors see something like Fangio’s Alfa sitting in the Carnegie Museum and say "Wait a sec! YOU race this?!?!!"

2009 PosterOh, and then there’s the car shows!  You want to see muscle cars? You want to see over 500 British cars? A Jaguar Concours? An Italian courtyard "Cortile"? What about Mercedes? BMW? Mini? Porshe? Motorcycles? Then put on your hiking shoes and be prepared to walk 18 holes of golf course to see over 2000 cars o html_removed n display!

Oh, and admission is FREE to the public!  We would of course like you to make a donation since this is, afterall, a charity event.

For those who have visited us or raced here please feel free to post some pictures, video, or leave some comments and be sure to visit the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix website for tons more detail on our 10 day celebration of motorsports and automotive history
