... Or more correctly, doesn't fit anywhere else.
• I spent Saturday in Nashville for the Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by Suntrust fan event. It was great to have so many drivers show up and support the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. It was a very worthwhile event for a great cause. Everybody wins on a deal like that.
• NASCAR is getting almost universal support for the willingness to listen to fans, drivers and, yes, even us pesky journalists about improving the quality of racing. As well they should. Things are going to get better this year, IMHO.

• Mark Martin has six Cup races with no sponsors at the moment. Unbelievable that the No. 2 guy in points on the best team in the sport isn’t fully funded yet. You will not meet a better sponsor representative than Martin.
• Tony Stewart is building a new home in Columbus, Ind.
• Denny Hamlin on Jimmie Johnson: “Somebody asked me what does Jimmie have that you can use more of, I told them talent, first. … A lot of things crossed my mind, but I figured talent was a good one.”
• It was nice to see Aric Almirola get a full-time Sprint Cup ride with James Finch. Almirola is a promising talent, a nice guy and someone who deserves a break after debacles at DEI and JGR that were not his fault.
• Congrats to Kyle Petty for getting to play the Ryman Auditorium. It doesn’t get better than to live a dream like that. You could see and hear just what it meant to him, which was a lot. Couldn’t happen to a worthier man.
• Got a quick glimpse of Taylor Swift backstage on Saturday. I would have welcomed the opportunity to see her perform.
• Josh Turner was great in a short set on the second night of Sound & Speed. But I am almost embarrassed to admit how sexy Gretchen Wilson was performing as the headliner. Wow, wow, wow! She can change the oil in my truck anytime she wants.
